This is too funny, a tribe dedicated to the lucious ambrosia of life that is Pad thai!
Yes, I admit it, I'm a thai food junkie with strong oppinions about what thai restaraunts in my home town, Bellingham WA offer the best of what. so, here's a quick reveiw in a nutshell ... I don't want to take up too much of your time so you can get out there & eat it!

Best pad Thai award goes to: Me, Iv'e figured out how to do it up just right.
o.k., if I have to pick a place then I'd have to go with Busara.
even though the portions are a bit small.
best Thai food in general : Supons
people, this place doesn't look like much on the outside but,
I'm tellin ya, The food rocks! Portions are generous, heat
factor is usually right on & I haven't had a bad meal there ever.
my faveorite menu items are: red cury, Pad thai w/ tofu,
swimming rama w/ veg. also, the cashew chicken.
other thai places here: Pad thai~ swanky hipster vibe, decent food, heat factor (stars)
are inconsistent, small portions, killer cocktails.
On Rice~ two locations, one is better than the other ( samish way
location is better)(Barkley Square is too pretentious & the
service sucks) but, the food is pretty good.
Jimmys House of Orient~ Downtown new location, Jimmy is cool,
Staff is goodlooking, Food is decent & a bit different
from the other places in town, killer lunch specials,
swanky decor.
House of thai~ People say it's good but, I went there 10 years
ago & it didn't really impress me enough to go back.
This place is my least fav. simply because of it's weird
Mall location & there are better choices in town.

Happy eating.
get your thai on,
Juels

Normally I can get the extra spicey and just get a slight head tingle, but not today. I almost passed out from the heat of the food. My friend Tricia watched me go into this other realm. It was great and horrible at the same time! Then I asked the waitress if they were known for their spiceyness of their food and of course she said they were. So if you are into the SPICEY aspect of the Thai food, you should go there. It's on 2nd just up from B-side.

My Mom is from the Philippines. She eats in the asian/pacific tradition, one 'main meal' per day. This consists of meat or fish, with vegetables and sauce/juices with heaping portions of rice. yuk!
Sometimes the sauce is patis', which is squeezed from fermented fish, or diniguan, which is coagulted pork blood. Eww!
No, she doesn't use chopstix! Most asians eat with their hand, gathering the food with the finger tips. I guess you don't touch anything during the process. Icky!
No, she doesn't eat roasted dog! That's korea. No, she doesn't eat monkeys! That's Vietnam or Laos. She does eat baloot, which is partially developed, fertilized duck eggs, soaked in brine. Gross!
She eats a grip of fish. Peuw! I'd come home from school, and the whole house stunk of fried stinky fish. I'd wanna hurl! Or, she'd go to the fish market, and get a whole grocery bag of live crabs. They'd be clawing around in the bag, against my leg, in the footwell of the buick. Eeek!
Then, she'd boil them in a dutch oven, and you could hear them scrambling to escape their doom, which prompted me to peek: they're all dead! and they turned orange! She would then proceed to eat them all, with a load of rice, in a cracking and sucking session, while watching soap operas in the tv room. I'm outta there!
Why the ranting by me?

Aurei invited me to this tribe, not knowing! hehe!

I grew up in my father's homeland: White Mid-Western America. my Gramma, who was a paper mill factory nurse in Kalamazoo, taught my Mom how to cook American food. My grandparents owned a summer lodge, amongst the sand dunes of Lake Michigan. Gramma ran the kitchen and dining room, which was staffed by beehive hairdoed, hornrimmed glasses wearing waitresses, and a black cook, named Milzoura, who I thought was Aunt Jemima.
Every wednesday, they'd have a 'smorgasboard' for the guests, which was basically a buffet. There were roasted meats under heatlamps, steamed vegetables, potatoes, iceberg salad, and dinner rolls, fruit cocktail (ambrosia, I guess), pies, and chocolate cake. Yumm!

Comfort food! Yeah Yeah!

I love fast food, too! Pick a drive-thru!
we'd go to Dog'n'Suds, which was a drive-in, with girls on rollerskates, serving up hot dogs, french fries, onion rings, and root beer in frosty glass mugs, on a tray that clamped on the car window. Tasty!
Then, we moved to upstate New York, where I acquired my taste for Italian food. I LOVE pizza!!! We'd go to Tivoli's, which specialized in Sicilian style, which is a giant rectangular pie, a pan pizza with 2 inch thick crust (no, it's not doughy! It melts in your mouth!). I'm pretty finicky, when it comes to pizza, turning my nose up, on Domino's or Pizza Hut. Manufactured pizza reminds me of school cafeteria slabs. Hand tossed baby! the way to go!

OK! I've had my say...

Thank You, Aurei, for inviting me to this tribe, but I digress.
